Puede dividirse en tres subcategor\u00edas, ortoft\u00e1lica (ORTO), diciclopentadiena (DCPD) e isoft\u00e1lica (ISO): la primera se utiliza habitualmente en casi todos los sectores de la fibra de vidrio; la DCPD suele tener resistencias mec\u00e1nicas ligeramente inferiores a la ortoft\u00e1lica, pero humedece mejor las fibras de refuerzo y contiene menos estireno; por su parte, la resina isoft\u00e1lica tiene caracter\u00edsticas mec\u00e1nicas, t\u00e9rmicas y de resistencia al agua y a los productos qu\u00edmicos superiores a la ortoft\u00e1lica y la DCPD.
